BROKERS HOPEFUL
SEASON’S OPENING.
7?d. PER LB. AVERAGE HOPED FOR.
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Auckland, Last Night, A total of 17,781 bales will be offered at the Auckland wool sale which tomorrow opens the Dominion’s woolselling season. It comprises practically all new wool, including some of the best clips ever submitted to auction from, the Auckland province. Despite adverse indications, brokers are hopeful that fairly satisfactory prices will be obtained. Free bidding from Japan is hoped for and there' is some expectation that Germany will take more than seemed likely some weeks ago. Last year at the opening sale 23,000 bales yielded an average of £l3 18s 2d each. In November, 1932, the return was much lower. There are grounds for hoping that to-morrow’s sale will net close to £lO a bale or 7*d per lb.
