SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
THE RESULTS ANNOUNCED HIGH SCHOOLS BOARD DECISION. TARANAKI PUPILS’ SUCCESSES. SAVINGS BANK AWARD NOMINEE. Four scholarships, giving two pupils free board for three years at the New Plymouth Girls’ and Boys’ High Schools respectively, were awarded last night at the monthly meeting of the schools board. Subject to the approval of the trustees the New Plymouth Savings Bank scholarship, open to boys in the Taranaki educational district, was also awarded. , , The successful candidates for the board scholarships, entitled to free board over a period of three years, were Joan Loma Austin, Edna Shields, Quentin Thompson and Alan B. H. Howes. Harold Di ' Short received the Savings Bank award, tenable for five years with payments annually of £6O. The marks obtained out of a maximum total of 800 by the first ten candidates in each section are announced as follow:— ’ Girls’ Awards.
