During the week-end a cricket match was played between the Tangarakau railway staff and the Tangarakau club. Tangarakau won by one wicket and 38 runs. Railway batted first, scoring 79. NARROW MARGIN IN SCORES.

By a margin of two runs, 79 to 77, Mata beat Taranaki Power Board in a cricket match at the week-end.

In the first innings Mata made 45, F. Martin, 12, being the only batsman to reach double figures. P. Bull, 7 not out, was the next best scorer. Power Board did poorly in the first innings, making only 12 runs, but in the second hit did better with 65 for six wickete declared. Snell, 48 not out, put up a good performance, his being the only doublefigure score. Mata made 34 in the second innings, Worthington’s 8 not out, being the best score. Snell took four wickets for 25, R. Bourke five for 20 and five for six, and Hickey four for 16. Lee took two for seven, Naim three for four, F. Martin two for five.
