WAR IN GRAN CHACO
LEAGUE OF NATIONS STEP. ATTEMPT AT CONCILIATION. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 6.30 p.m. Geneva, Nov. 24. The League of Nations Assembly unanimously adopted the special committee’s recommendations regarding the Gran Chaco war. Paraguay and Bolivia abstained from voting. The committee recommended hostilities between Bolivia and Paraguay in the Gran Chaco should cease, that a neutral zone 62 miles wide be created and that a committee of six see that these recommendations are enforced. The committee also recommended that a peace conference be opened at Buenos Aires and that if it were unsuccessful after two months the dispute would go to the Hague Court, and that an advisory committee of 23 be created at Geneva.
