DEFENCE PROBLEMS
GOVERNMENT MEETS VISITORS.

The Dominion defence officials’ conference with Sir Maurice Hankey, Secretary of the Committee of Imperial Defence, and Sir George Pearce, of the Federal Cabinet, concluded early this afternoon. The visitors were entertained avluncheon to-day.
Interviewed, Mr. G. W. Forbes said he was not in a position to make any statement about what was being done by the conference. There had been a frank discussion of various defence problems facing the Empire, with particular reference to Australia and New Zealand. Asked whether the results of the conference would lead to Cabinet action, Mr. Forbes said he was not in a position to say at the moment what the outcome of the deliberations would be. Sir Maurice Hankey and Sir George Pearce leave by car to-morrow morning for the north.
