SYDNEY THIEVES ESCAPE.
£BOO WORTH OF TOBACCO LOST.

Leaping into a high-powered motorcar and ignoring a fusillade of bullets fired by the police, two masked robbers escaped with £BOO worth of tobacco and cigarettes from D. Cohen’s tobacco store, Swan Street, Richmond, this morning. . Whether any of the shots took, effect is not known. The police had hidden in the vicinity owing to a mysterious message received by an employee last week: “Your shop will be raided over the week-end.”
