TEACHER’S FAREWELL
GATHERING AT COLLINGWOOD. . ECHO OF RECENT APPEAL. -By Telegraph—Press Association. " .Nelson, Nov. 8. Mr. Hollis Hill, a former headmaster of the Collingwood school, and Mrs. Hill ■were given a farewell by a crowded gathering in the Collingwood public hall. The speakers included the chairman of the; Collingwood County Council, the Rev. Mr. Ives, Dr. Andrew and Mr. C. P. McNabb. All said that Mr. Hill had given great service to the children and to Collingwood and his departure was widely regretted. Several presentations were made. Mr. Hill recently appealed against his dismissal by - the Nelson Education Board, but after consideration the Teachers’ Appeal Board, comprising Messrs. T. E. Maunsell, S.M. (chairman), A. Douglas and A. Robinson, concluded that the appeal must be dismissed upon the ground advanced by the board terminating Mr. Hill’s engagement, which was failure to take adequate steps to suppress sexual misconduct among certain pupils. That being so if was unnecessary to call on the board to establish grounds of alleged inefficiency and alleged .insubordination. >
