NEW MODERATOR

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH LEADER. ■ . 3 DUNEDIN MEETING OF ASSEMBLY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At the Presbyterian Assembly the Rev. H. H. Barton, Lawrence, was proposed as the Moderator-designate of the Assembly in 1935 by the Rev. R. McDowall and seconded by the Rev. E. J. Tipler. The Rev. Donald Mqlvor, Marton, was proposed by the Rev. John Paterson and seconded by the Rev. James Aitken. On a vote being taken the Rev. H. H. Barton was elected by a large majority, and subsequently the election was made unanimous. It was decided to hold the Assembly of 1935 at Wellington. It was pointed out that the suggestion to hold the Assembly at Auckland would involve greatly increased expenditure. Professor Collie, presenting the report of the publications committee, said the loss on the publication of the church’s paper for the past year had been but slight. The income from advertising was improving, but congregations were careless in the matter of circulation. Discussion took place - on publication periods and it was - decided to continue as a weekly. Further long and involved discussion on matters connected with the church paper ended in a decision to refer the whole question to a special committee, which shall report to the next Assembly.
