SUICIDE DOUBTED
HUSBAND OF AMERICAN ACTRESS. REOPENING OF THE CASE POSSIBLE By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7.15 p.m. Los Angeles, Nov/10. A grand jury investigating the prosecuting record of the district attorney, Mr. Burton Fitts, who is under indictment for perjury, found testimony in the mysterious suicide of Paul Bern, husband of the actress Jean Harlow, in 1932, that may reopen the entire case. The original grand jury returned a suicide verdict, but the testimony reveals that several domestics in his home doubted this and expressed the opinion that he was murdered. The foreman of the present jury, however, insisted he was not interested in the case, although according to reports one expert testified that the cryptic “suicide” note that Bern left was a palpable forgery.
