ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES. PREPARATION FOR CHAMPIONSHIP. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Surf Association took place yesterday, when Mr. H. S. Weston (Old Boys) presided. The following delegates were present: Messrs. W. J. Claringbold and A. Ryan (Ohawe), R. Howell and J. Harkness (Patea), W. Jarvis and N. Berge (East End), W. Haggitt, W. A. Sharp and S. M. Smith (Opunake), J. W. Morehead and J. Scoble (Fitzroy) and R. Perkins (Old Boys), honorary secretary. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet Mr. Weston said the association had had a successful year. It had worked on sound lines and everything indicated that in the coming year everything would go smoothly. The motion was passed without discussion. The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr. H. S. Weston; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. Perkins; marshal, Mr. S. M. Smith; marshal’s steward, Messrs. W. Jarvis and J. Scoble; time-keepers, Messrs. C. H. Stephenson, V. Garth, J. Bennett, J. Clark, N. R. Reardon, H. C. Smith, W. A. Sharp, F. Foden, H. Sargent, G. Fraser and Dr. Griffen; delegate to New Zealand council, Mr. A. B. Ross; additional examiners, Messrs. W. E. Smith, W. J. Claringbold, M. Nelson, C. Campbell; referee, Mr. W. A. Sharp. The New Zealand council wrote accepting Mr. R. G. Howell’s trophy for the march past. This trophy will take the form of a belt made from polished woods. It will be worn by the leader of the team which holds it each year in the competition. Mr. Haggitt’s motion that all meetings take place during the week-end and that the board of judges meet at the same time, if necessary, was carried. The question of the condition of the reels on the beaches was discussed and the position was referred to a sub-com-mittee to go into the finance necessary. It was decided to institute a junior seven-man championship with land drill included. The pennant will be a junior seven man fixed position event., Clubs during the present seafeon will be recommended to endeavour to arrange definite patrols on their beaches at week-ends. Mr. Howell briefly outlined the arrangements .already made regarding the forthcoming New Zealand championships to be held at New Plymouth in February. The secretary was voted the same hon- ■ orarium as last year.
