SUNNY SKY WINS SPRING SOUCHONG TAKES THE FLYING. GREENORE PAYS BIG DIVIDEND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. The Hawkes Bay Jockey Club’s spring meeting was held in fine weather, with the course in good ofder. There was a good attendance. Greenore, a rank outsider, created a sensation in the Trial Stakes, paying a. dividend of over a double century. The totalisator handled £5528, against £5732 fdr eight races last year. Anemometer drew level with the leaders entering the straight and won easily by seven lengths from the favourite Kahufioke, with Heliotype five lengths away. Time, 2m 47 2-ss. TRIAL STAKES. Of £6O. Thane and Silver Song immediately took charge, leading to the straight. The winner took the lead a. furlong from the post and won easily by two lengths from The Grasper, who beat the favourite by a nose. Time, Im 8 2-ss.

Tire favourite secured the early lead and won easily by two and a half lengths, Happy Landing getting up and beating De Friend on. the post by half a length. Time, 49 2-ss. SPRING HANDICAP. Of £lOO. Royal Bengal and Brambletorn led until turning for home, the forater then dropping back with the favourite coming on the Outside. Sunny Sky prevailed from Brambletorn by a length in a hard finish, with Chopin a similar distance away third. Hatuma and Sabatini led when the field was running for positions. Three furlongs from the post Cuddle took the lead and won by two lengths from Hatuma, who was under punishment. Six furlongs. — 1- SOUCHONG, 8.12 (Mullins) 1 3- CULLUS, 7.7 (Atkins) 2 2- CYCLONIC, 7.11 (Anderson) ... 3 Also started: 4-4 Cawbeen 7.8, 5-5 Stitch 7.7, 6-6 Coronilla 7.3. Souchong and Cullus started well, leading throughout and finishing hard. Souchong prevailed by two lengths, Cullus holding on to beat Cyclonic by half a head. Time, Im 14s. LITTLE FLAXMERE HANDICAP. Of £7O. Six furlongs. 4- QUEEN’S PRIDE, 7.7 (Jones) 1 2-3—DOMBEY. 8.8 (Leach) 2 4-4—ROYAL BANQUET, 7.7 (Anderson) 3 Also started: 1-1 Hest 8.11, 3-2 Lavina 8.8, 5-6 Hybiscus 8.2, 7-9 De Trop 8.0, 6-8 Marsong, 9.10 Passion Flower 7.7, 8-7 Royal Solo 7.5. Hest was left at the tape, De Trop, Dombey and Lavina making the early running. Turning into the straight Queen’s Pride was fifth but gathered in the leaders a furlong from the post and won by two lengths, Dombey holding off Royal Banquet by three-quarters of a length. Lavina and Hest were next. Time, Im 15s.
