SANDERS CUP RACES
WELLINGTON TRIAL EVENTS. . MONICA SECURES TWO WINS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. During the week-end two more trials in the series to decide the Wellington representative in the Sanders Cup races were held, one on Saturday afternoon and one this morning. Saturday’s race gave the Monica her second win in the three races so far held, the Jannet having won the other, but whereas the first two contests wore sailed in the lightest of airs there was a fresh northerly wind both yesterday and to-day. There was a thrilling finish, the Monica crossing the line barely a bowsprit ahead of Lavina. Kitty was third. In the morning trial Jannet and TaSSie capsized. The trial was won by Monica, with Josephine three-quarters of a minute behind and Lavina third. The Lavina led throughout the race, being easily fastest in the running, but _ the Monica -won by superior work to windward,
