The Wanganui Union rowing crew very comfortably won the Kerr Cup for the senior eights over 2000 metres at the Sydney regatta to-day. The trophy, which was specially presented for today’s race, becomes the property of the winning club. Taking the lead after the first 200 yards, the visiting boat rapidly drew away, and at the half-mile there was clear - water between it and the others. The veteran Healey did not have to increase tire rate of stroking at aiiy stage to give the crew a three lengths victory. There was a splendid rice between Mosman, Haberfield. Sydney and New South Wales Police for the minor placing, Mosman finishing best for second, with Sydney a canvas away third. In the 2000 metres senior sculls both the New Zealanders, Smith and Abbott, contented themselves with minor placings to qualify for the final. Owing th indisposition Smith was unable to compete in the final, which was won by U lengths by Turner, a New South Wales policeman, from Abbott. • Abbott was last in a field of five -with a quai-ter of a mile to go, but he finished strongly, sculling well. His showing against Turner, who is the most outstanding sculler in Australia since Bobbie Pearce, was really good. C. Pearce, Balmain, cousin of Bobbie Pearce, was third in the 2000 metres sculls, a length behind Abbott. Moss, who was injured at Melbourne, did not row in the Wanganui Union eight, and was replaced by Luxford.
