Th Canterbury Jockey Club’s metropolitan meeting was concluded yesterday. The weather was fine and very hot and the attendance was good. The track was in fast order. Tire totalisator investments were £35,774 (win £14.374 10s. place £21,399 10s), compared with £38,325 last year. The total for the meeting was £115,311 10s, against £110,164 10s last year. Wino and Vitaphone were the leaders at the half-mile, and were first to turn for home, with Palatinate, Cottingham, Sky Rover, Semper Paratus and Heather Glow also prominent. Rebel Star was followed by Great Star crossing the top, and these two led on to the course proper from Davolo, Vintage, Gold Trail, Red Manfred, Southdown, Sweet Agnes and Polydora.
