Tennis Ranking List
F. J. Perry is placed No. 1 and H. W. Austin No. 4 in the ranking list issued by Pierre Gillou, president of the French Lawn Tennis Association. His ranking of the world’s best 10 players is exactly the same as that of A. Wallis Myers, famous English critic, except that he reverses the order of the last two players in placing C. BoussuS (France) above G. De Stefani (Italy). Gillou’s ranking list in full is as follows:—! F. J. Perry (Great Britain), 2 J. Crawford (Australia), 3 G. von Cramm (Germany), 4 H. W. Austin (Great Britain), 5 W. Allison (U.S.A.), 6 S. B. Wood (U.S.A.), 7 R. Menzel (Czechoslovakia), 8 F. X. Shields (U.S.A.), 9 C. Boussus (France), 10 G. De Stefani (Italy).
After he won the lawn tennis championship of the United States, for the second year in succession, Fred Perry was presented by the American Lawn Tennis Association with a golden tennis ball, as a souvenir of his triunmh.
