£40,200,000 TO SEE PICTURES

BRITISH PATRONAGE LAST YEAR. £6,000,000 IN ENTERTAINMENT TAX. (British Official. Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Sept. 11. Figures relating to the cinematograph business of Great Britain, given at a British Association meeting at Aberdeen, revealed that the public paid £40,200,000 for admission to British cinemas last year, entertainment tax revenue amounting to £6,700,000. Of the 476 imported films registered for distribution in Great Britain during the year remittances to the United States in respect to 330 of them represented 90 to 95 per cent, of the total remittances. The value of the total imports amounted to £5,300,000.
