PERSONAL AND GENERAL ITEMS. Miss McCormick, Auckland, who has , been the guest of Mrs. H. Carter, has I returned to Mahoenui. Mrs. Elliot has returned from Inglewood. Miss Doris Wheeler, New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. J. C. Moss. 1 Miss A Garcia has returned to Ngatarawa after spending the school holidays I with her parents at New Plymouth. The Misses Elsie and Emily Chapman, , New Plymouth, visited friends at Mahoenui during the school holidays. Miss Jessup has returned to Mahoenui from Auckland, where she spent the school vacation. _ Miss O. Abraham, New Plymouth, spent several days as the guest of Mrs. A. H. Rattenbury. Mrs. O’Malley has returned from Pio Pio. Mrs. Ross, Pio Pio, has been the guest of her mother, Mrs. J. Old. Mr. and Miss Whitehouse, Kopaki, spent a few days as the guests of Mrs. A. C. Moir. Mr. Ray Whitehouse accompanied them on their return to Kopaki, where he spent a brief holiday. “Tin-cannings” seem, to be the fashion at Mahoenui. During the past fortnight there have been two. The first was held at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Roberts, where there was a very representative gathering. Before the crowd dispersed Mr. J. Old extended good i wishes. Mr. Roberts responded. The second was at the residence of Mr. and| Mrs. Herbert Moore, where despite the inclement weather a large crowd gathered to welcome the bride, who is a newcomer to the district. On behalf of the community Mr. Old spoke briefly and Mr. Moore responded. Mr. T. A. Summers also spoke.
