UPPER MANGOREI DISTRICT
GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. A Band of Hope meeting was held at Upper Mangorei last Saturday night. There was a good attendance and Mr. Jackson was in the chair. _ After the opening exercises musical items were rendered by Master W. Balsom, Misses B Pearce, Jamieson, H. Johnston, M. Knauf, P. West and N. Radford and elocutionary items by C. Jamieson, H. Johnston, B. Pearce and V. Jamieson. A temperance address was given by Miss G. Pearce. Supper and games concluded the evening. ' On Thursday night Mr. and Mrs. R. HBalsom entertained friends at flag five hundred. The party at the winning table was Mrs. Hawke, Mrs. Busing, Mr. Busing and Mr. C. Balsom. Songs were sung by Mrs. ■ Pearce and pianoforte pieces rendered by Miss M. Sarten. Mr. E. Spencer is home on holiday. Miss M. Sarten has been the guest of Mrs. D. Jamieson. . Miss G. Balsom is convalescing at her Mr. R. Bannister has left the district. Although he is home Mr. C. Radford is an out-patient at the New Plymouth hospital.
