CHAMPIONSHIPS BEGUN FITZROY QUALIFYING ROUNDS S. CLARK LEADS SENIOR FIELD. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions prevailing, the first qualifying round for the Fitzroy club’s championship was played on Saturday. The course was in good order, and under the circumstances the scoring was quite good. S. Clark has a commanding lead among the seniors, his 80 being a fine effort. In the junior division G. The Cape Egmont club’s championships were continued during the week-end and have now all reached the final and semifinal stage. In the final of the women’s championship Miss B. Knuckey with a score of 95—28—67 was the winner of a one-club medal round at Rawhitiroa. The runner-up was D. Knuckey, with 81—13—68. The final of the competition for Mr. A. O. Casey’s trophy was won by L. Paton with a score of 97—26—71. The runner-up was A. Phillips, 92—20 —72. ELTHAM TEAM’S LARGE MARGIN. PATEA VISITORS DEFEATED. A Patea team was easily beaten by Eltham at Eltham yesterday. Patea won only two games, and finished all square in one.
