AMATEUR ROAD CYCLING
WEATHER SPOILS THE RACE. Owing to the inclement weather there were only two starters in the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club’s road cycling race on Saturday. The result was F. Barlow (2m.), 35m. 155., 1; C. H. Hawkins (scr.), 38nv 155., 2. Fastest time: F. Barlow, 35m. 15s. F. Barlow had gained three-quarters of a minute on Hawkins at the blacksmith’s shop and kept gaining steadily and came in five minutes ahead of Hawkins. Hawkins and Barlow were the only starters, the other boys not riding, as the weather looked uncertain. Next week’s race will be from the Waiwakaiho to Onaero factory and back.
