JUNIOR BASKETBALL

PRIMARY SCHOOL TOURNAMENT. INGLEWOOD AND OAONUI WIN. There was a record entry of 44 teams for the primary school basketball tournament at New Plymouth on Saturday. Owing to wet weather the games were played in the Coronation Hall instead of at East End, but the cramped conditions did not prevent the matches being very keenly contested. Play throughout was of a higher standard than in previous years, and there was some spectacular passing and goal throwing. There was a large number of spectators watching the final games, after which Mr. R. J. Deare presented the Deare Shield and rose bowl to the winners, Inglewood and Oaonui.
