LICENSING OF TRANSPORT
NELSON ANOMALY RECALLED. SIMILAR POSITION AT TIMARU. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night, A case similar in many respects to that in which Anstiss Motors, Nelson, are appealing to the Supreme Court for a ruling as to the constitution of the Transport Appeal. Board came before the No. 8 District Licensing Authority today, when W. Boag, Timaru, applied for the renewal of his license and an extension of the number of trips a week between Christchurch and Dunedin. Boag appeared before the Central Licensing Authority, Sir Stephen Allen,” and Mr. H, B. S. Johnstone in October, 1933, the authority granting one license out of the three applied for. Boag appealed against the decision and went before the Transport Co-ordination Board, Sir S. Allen, Mr. Johnstone and Mr.‘L. Aiderton, the appeal being disallowed. To-day Boag made application to the No. 8 District Licensing Authority for a renewal of the existing license and an extension to permit the use of three vehicles. Tire chairman, Mr. J. D. Hutchison, raised the point as to whether the Authority was empowered to deal with a case in which the Co-ordination Board had given a decision. After argument, it was decided to adjourn the case to Christchurch, by which time the decision of the Supreme Court in the Nelson case will be available.
