WAITARA SCOUTS AND CUBS

DEPARTURE OF REV. A. L. DIXON.

The monthly meeting of parents of Boy Scouts and Cubs was held on Friday night. Mr. E. A. George presided.

The Rev. A. L. Dixon informed his coworkers in the Scout movement that he had to resign his position of group Scoutmaster on account of leaving the district. He had been brought up on the Scottish tradition of valuing ties of kinship and friendship, and as the time approached for him to leave Waitara he felt the position deeply. His connection with the Scouts had been happy and he had gained much experience. The movement at Waitara had developed wonderfully and ail the parents had been most loyal and helpful. Mr. Dixon requested that a parade be held at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday. The chairman said it was with deep regret they learned of Mr. Dixon’s leaving Waitara. It was felt that the group Scoutmaster’s work had been tremendously fruitful, the position being in the main attributable--to Mr. Dixon. It was resolved to hold a church parade as asked for by Mr. Dixon. It was decided to hold a Cubs’ birthday party on Friday and a committee of parents was appointed to make arrangements.

Mr. L. N. Johnston was appointed group Scoutmaster and Mesdames L. N. Johnston and G. P. Fuller and Mr. E. A. Georgs were appointed visitors for the month.
