HOCKEY AT WHANGAMOMONA
KOHURATAHI TEAM DEFEATED. Hockey started in Whangamomona on Thursday, when the ladies’ team played a friendly match against Kohuratahi, winning by five goals to one. The day was fine but the ground was slow on account of long grass. Goals were scored for Whangamomona by Miss E. Geever (4) and Mrs. Aagaard. Miss L. Burch scored for Kohuratahi. After the match afternoon tea was served by members of the Whangamomona club. Later a meeting of eastern districts’ delegates was held, and officers for the forthcoming season were elected. Mr. P. Fougeje .was appointed president, and Mr. L. A. Robinson, secretary. The executive will comprise Mrs. L. A. Robinson, Mrs. York, Miss Selby, Miss Burch, and Mr. K. Summerhays. The opening match of the first round of the competition will be Whangamomona against Tangarakau at Tangarakau today.
