OHURA GENERAL NEWS
FOOTBALL TO START TO-DAY. The Ohura football season will open to-day, when Ohura will play Tokirima at Tokirima, and Matiere will play- Niho Niho at the Niho Niho grounds. The Ohura team will be: D. Gould; Risk, Morgan, Garvey; Howie, Crossman; Craven; Gill, Williams, Fraser, Jones, Wind, Smith, Kemp, Robinson; emergencies, Worthington, Freeman, Stevenson, L. Gill.
Miss I. Craven, who has been staying with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. Craven, has returned to her home. Miss D. MacClure entertained at bridge during the week. Miss Pat Ryan, Niho Niho, was the guest of Miss B. Allen for a few days.
Anzac Day at Ohura. There was a good muster of returned soldiers, with Lieut. Higgins in command, Scouts and Cubs (Scout-master Muggridge), and Girl Guides (Captain Margery Esdaile). The procession marched from the post office to the theatre, where a service was conducted by the ministers of the district. The town band headed by Captain Esdaile led the procession and played the hymns and afterwards played outside the theatre. There was a large attendance at the service, the speakers being the Revs. Marks and Alexander, and Messrs. Denison, Marshall and Sanderson. Messrs. H. and D. Ross sounded the “Last Post.” Mr." W. T. Mackay conducted the band.
