ANNUAL DISPLAY AT WAIPUKURAU OFFICERS ELECTED AT CONFERENC By Telegraph—Press Association. Rec. 9.25 a.m. Waipukurau, March 31. The twenty-third annual conference of the United Districts Fire Brigades’ Association was held at Waipukurau last night, Foreman A. S. Annand, president of the Waipukurau brigade, presiding over an attendance of seven officers and 13 delegates. A civic welcome was extended by the Deputy-Mayor, Cr. J. McCarthy, Cr. Geo. Grainger, Messrs. A. E. Jull, M.P., W. G. Bryce, chairman of the Fire Board, A. C. Holms and E. G. Dowrick, past presidents of the Chamber of Commerce. Officers elected were: President, Deputy-Superintendent W. Minett, Masterton; vice-presidents, Fireman L. Martin, Petone, Superintendent C. H. Scott, Dannevirke; Superintendent G. Coster, Eketahuna (deputy president), and Superintendent W. H. Collings, Taihape; secretary, Superintendent R. Henderson, Hastings (re-elected); treasurer, Deputy-Superintendent H. Price, Hastings. The next conference will be held at Eketahuna. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £32 13s Id. The Carterton brigade was complimented on the success of the 1932 conference and demonstration.
The twelfth annual demonstration will take place at Waipukurau to-day and on Monday. Eleven brigades and 22 teams are participating. Ideal weather prevails.
