Slippery turned the wrong way when the barrier rose and after running 100 yards pulled up. Blue Boy was first out but past the Stands High Grader headed Stitch, Cuticle, Gainsfid and Blue Boy. Half a mile from home Aesculus was last. A furlong from home the winner started to put in a claim and won in a great finish by the narrowest margin. Gainsfid Was close up and High Grader was fourth. Time, 2m 7 l-ss. HERETAUNGA HACK HANDICAP. Of £7O. When they settled down Hybiscus led Lavina, Cawbeen and Hunting Jay. There was some unintentional interference by the winner with Lavina and Hunting Jay in the run home. Won by a neck with two lengths between second and third. Time, Im 14 3-ss. HAVELOCK FLYING HANDICAP. Of £lOO. Six furlongs. 1-I—CULLUS, 7.11 (Gunn) 1 3- SLIPPERY, 9.0 (Walsh) 2 4- APRIL FOOL, 7.2 (McNaughton) 3 The field got away in a perfect line. April Fool was first to show out and was soon headed by Cullus, who made a big gap and won by four lengths. The third horse was two lengths back. Time, Im 13 2-ss.
