BRITISH BETTING BILL
MANY PROTESTS PRODUCED. GREY RACING COMPLAINT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 28. The , new Betting Bill has produced many protests.' The National Turf Protection Society regards the Bill as unnecessarily drastic and doubts the practicability of working mechanical or electric totalisators on a 3 per cent, basis. It says that the conditions of the Bill are tantamount to a denial of totalisators to greyhound racing. The Greyhound Racing Society has circularised members of the House of Commons urging that licensing control be placed in the hands of a national board instead of local authorities. The society contends that no greyhound racecourse can be conducted satisfactorily on the basis of two meetings a week. Dog racing shares have fallen sharply in consequence of the Bill.
