Wilson and Mrs. G. Hammond are spending Easter at Cambridge. Mrs. C. O. Edmonds left on Wednesday for the South Island, where she will spend Easter. Miss M. Donnelley, Christchurch, was a visitor to Opunake for her brother’s wedding on Wednesday. On Monday last Mrs. F. Julian and her daughters entertained a large number of friends at a “bathroom evening” in honour of Miss Edna Hinch, who is shortly to be married. Mrs. Julian received her guests wearing floral velvet, and Miss Hinch wore a frock of silk ninon in autumn tonings.

On Friday, March 23, Mesdames C. O. Edmonds and C. H. Marcroft were hostesses at eight tables of bridge at Mrs. Edmonds’ home, proceeds being in aid of the Plunket candidate. Bowls of large dahlias and gladiolii decorated the drawing-room. Mrs. Edmonds wore a gown of cherry crinkle crepe, and Mrs. Marcroft a frock of moss green crushed velvet. Prizes, which were hidden numbers, were won by Mrs. W. Sharp, Miss S. Jenkin and Mr. H. Parkes.

During the evening a number of competitions were held, the winners being Misses E, Hinch and E. Perry, and Messrs. W. Allen and G. Mickelson. An elocutionary number by Miss N. Perry was much appreciated. After supper Miss K. Julian, on behalf on those present, asked Miss Hinch to accept the gifts. Miss Hinch suitably replied, after which she opened the many presents. A happy evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
