Y.W.C.A. SPORTS ACTIVITY
FIRST MEETING OF THE YEAR. The first meeting for thte winter season of the sports department of the Y.W.C.A. was held last evening in the Y.W.C.A., when girls wishing to belong to either hockey or basketball teams met 'in a general conference. The first period of discussion” centred round the' ideals of sportsmanship and the value of sport in helping to develop a balanced life. This was followed by ah explanation of Y.W.C.A. membership for senior girls, . .. It was arranged that' membership for sport girls entitle the member to play all the year round in both winter and summer seasons, with certain privileges in general Y.W.C.A. activities. Ways and means of raising affiliation fees were also -under consideration as part of the year’s responsibilities. Before the girls dispersed Miss M. Matangi coached the basketball girls in the hall, while members of the hockey team received a blackboard’ lecture in' the' club room.
