HARVEST FESTIVAL ENDS
SALVATION ARMY CONCERT HELD. A feature of the celebrations of the harvest festival of the Salvation Army at New Plymouth was a competition among the boys and girls of the Sunday school for the best decorated basket or vehicle laden with fruit and vegetables. Mrs. J. Stevenson’s class won the girls’ competition, in which Miss Gladys Preacher’s class was second and Mrs. Chandler’s third. The boys’ decorated vehicles competition was won by Bandmaster Skelton’s class, with Mr. J. Lobb s second, Miss T. Stevenson’s third and Miss W. Richardson’s fourth. A concert was held in the hall last night in final celebration of the festival. The concert opened with a congregational. song, “All. Hail the Power, of Jesus’ Name,” after which the .songsters rendered “A Day of Song.” ’ Captain A. Chandler and Deputy-Bandmaster A. Smith gave a comet duet, “Down the Vale,” Captain Chandler gave •' a monologue, “11.59,” and the songsters “A Weary Gleaner.” Miss Dulcie Lobb sang, “I Have Given Up All for Jesus.” In conclusion another cornet duet, -“Watchman, Wliat of the Night,” and the songsters’ “To Thee, O Lord of Earth and Sky” were given. There was a large attendance, produce being sold after the conclusion of the concert
