NEW PLYMOUTH BADMINTON

FORMATION OF CLUB DECIDED ON. OFFICERS ELECTED FOR SEASON. A decision to form a badminton club at New Plymouth and to play, in the Coronation Hall was made' at a meeting of more than 30 enthusiasts last nighf. It was stated that there would be seven courts available and that already more than 100 persons, including ranking tennis players from -all clubs, had signified their willingness to join.

■ ;Mr. St. Leger •• Reeves was elected chairman of the'meeting. It was possible, he said, to obtain the Coronation Hall on several evenings a week from'four o’clock to seven, and definitely on Friday night. ‘ On the motion of' Mr.-B. Cpllinge it was decided to form a club called the. New Plymouth- Badminton Club; The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. St. Leger Reeves; vice-presi-dent, Mr. J. Smith; secretary, Mr. B. Collinge; treasurer, Mr. S. M. White; committee, Misses : N. Welch and L. Dalefield, and Messrs A, Scott, P; Bennett and R. Ninkie; . club captain, Mr. P. Bennett. ? .

The chairman said it would be impossible to have the hall other than from 4 to 7 o’clock. On Friday night, however, it would be possible to play later. It was decided to play on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and on Friday nights. ... .. . • For coaching the chairman said it was hoped to secure visits from Wellington and Wanganui players, during the season to. give exhibitions of the game.
