TOC H PADRE AT HAWERA
HEALTH OF THE MOVEMENT. DOMINION’S BEAUTIES IMPRESS. The Rev. H. Leggate, the English Toe H. padre who is visiting New Zealand to develop Toe H, was at Hawera last night and will arrive at New Plymouth this morning. Mr. Leggate is meeting those already interested in Toe H and discussing its growth. In a brief chat with the Daily News last night Mr. Leggate said the Toe H movement, was in a healthy condition in New Zealand. He had enjoyed the conference held during the holidays, when he had. met most of the leaders. The beauties of New Zealand have greatly impressed the padre. Some of the sights he had seen had left him without words to describe them, and he hoped while at Hawera to see the cone of Egmont from the southerly aspect One of the things that had struck him in New Zealand was the length at which the newspapers reported events in contrast to the short reports in England. He was pleased to note that there was a very distinct absence of sensationalism. As far as world events were concerned this was probably largely due to New Zealand’s distance from Europe, which led to a clearer perspective. In some English papers the world always seemed just on the edge of a volcano and there was a fresh shock every day.
