OAONUI CHILDREN’S DAY
SCHOOL PICNIC ON KINA BEACH. The annual Oaonui school picnic was held on the Kina Road beach on Friday in pleasant weather. Besides the children many parents participated in the day’s outing. Most of the day was spent in swimming and sports. The winners were: Tots’ race: Ivy Harrop 1, Stanley Young 2. Under seven years: Girls, Eliza Ratahi 1, Betty Bosworth 2; boys, lan Young 1, Colin Wilson 2. Eight to ten years: Girls, Edna Newman 1, Eileen Cook 2; boys, Trevor Young 1, Reg Briscoe 2. Eleven to twelve: Girls, Emily Harrop 1, Myrtle Briscoe 2; boys, Len Morehu 1, Brian Briscoe 2. Seniors: Girls, Eileen Newman 1, Rosina Cook 2; boys, Charlie Smith 1, Edie Mitchell 2. Young men’s race: Jim Harrop 1, John Zurcher 2. Married ladies’ race: . Mrs. Quigley 1, Mrs. Wilson 2. Married men: Quigley 1, W. Briscoe 2. Hop, step and jump: Sam Dobbin. Men’s half mile: J. Zurcher 1, J. Harrop 2, Sidney Dobbin 3. High jump: W. Briscoe.
