SELECTION FOR WEST COAST THIRTY TO GO TO WELLINGTON. FOURTEEN TARANAKI NAMES. NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. A team of 30 to represent the West Coast (N. 1. Amateur Athletic Centre at the New Zealand championship at Wellington on February 16 and 17 was selected by a meeting of the centre at Hawera last night. The representatives are:--100 yards: E. Carveil (Wanganui), M. J. Strange (Manawatu). 220 yards: S. A. Black (New Plymouth), Strange. . • 440 yards: Black,. C. E. Evans (Taihape), J. Whiting (Eltham). 880 yards: L. Burgess (Wanganui), RL. Knight (Eltham), Evans. One mile: Knight, A. Bourgeois (Wanganui), R. H. MacDonald (Manawatu). Three miles: Bourgeois, L. E. Garrett (Hawera). 26-mile marathon: Garrett. ' Walking: W. and S. Coleman (Eltham), B. Campbell (Eltham). 120 yards hurdles: M. MacGregor (Palmerston North), L. A. Newall (Hawera), A. J. Darby. (Wanganui). 220 yards hurdles: Carveil, MacGregor. 440 hurdles: Darby, Burgess. Broad jump: C. S. Currie (Stratford), G. Sullivan (New Plymouth). Hop, step and jump: Currie, Sullivan. It was decided to recommend to the sub-centres that members of the team who were not boarding privately should all stay at the same hotel. The allocation of the Australian athletes’ visits to. Marton and. Eltham. was confirmed.
