FATAL ACCIDENT IN QUARRY
FALL OF GRAVEL CAUSES DEATH. COMMENT MADE BY MAGISTRATE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, January 26. At the inquest on Alexander Morton, a single man, aged 31, a finding of accidental death caused by a fall of gravel throwing him against a lorry, whereby he sustained fatal head injuries, was recorded by the coroner, Mr. E. C. Lewy, S.M., who commented that it seemed odd in a pit of the kind, which was really a quarry, there was nothing to require an experienced man to be in charge. Had such been the case he was quite sure there would have been no accident.
