SWIMMING CLUB EVENTS.

TO-MORROW NIGHTS HANDICAPS.

The Stratford Swimming Club’s captain v. secretary banner competitions will be continued at the club night on Wednesday,' when in addition to club races for which handicaps have been declared, there will be a special 25 yards scratch race to act as a guide in the selection of a relay team. The captain’s and secretary’s polo teams will also play, the captain’s team this week receiving half a goal start. The handicaps are:— Senior Men. 75 yards free style and dive:—First heat: T. J. ' STRATFORD SCHOOL COMMITTEE. LAST MEETING OF YEAR HELD. A meeting of the Stratford school committee , was held last night, those present being Mr. J. Morrison (chairman), Mrs. P. Thomson, Mrs. J. Petrie, jun., and Messrs. A. Fergusson, C. M. Lindop, H. F. Vosseler, P. T. Aitken and G. A. Carter (secretary). Reporting for the visiting committee, Mr. Ferguson said two visits had been paid and the school was found in good order. A new springboard had been placed and concreting of the dressing sheds had been completed by the swimming club. Mrs. Thomson and Mr. D. R. Turnbull were appointed visiting committee for January. Regarding work to obviate the dust nuisance at the front of the school, Mr. Morrison reported the board had given the committee £l5. It was for the committee to decide whether that was enough to begin with. He said it was' suggested to hold some function to raise funds, but in view of the appeals being made at Stratford at present that appeared rather difficult in the meantime. It was asked whether it was intended that the work should be done during the school holidays. Mr. Morrison said the matter of funds made that impossible, but by the raising of funds by possible functions the work could be done by March.
