INSTITUTE DANCE SUCCESS. The Women’s Institute held a successful social on Friday to raise funds for the school committee. The following gave items: Songs, Messrs B. Dombroski and O’Sullivan; violin solo, Miss V. Voitrekovsky. A competition for the best paper hat made with a newspaper page and four pins was won by Mrs. Byrne and Mr. M. Burgess. Tile music for the dance was played by Mrs. L. Brown, with extras by Mr. Roycroft Mr. Byrne was master of ceremonies. Injured Player Helped. The Norfolk Football Club held another successful euchre party and dance on Tuesday, the proceeds going to aid an injured player. There was a good attendance. Euchre prizes were won by Miss Hird 1, Mrs. J. Dombroski 2, Mr. C. Jury 1, Mr. O. Koch 2. Music was played by the Royal Albert dance band. Mr. C. Comey was master of ceremonies. The supper was supplied by local ladies Personal Items. Mrs. Burgess is indisposed. Mr. J. Rowe received a severe cut to a foot while cutting ensilage. Mrs. Fischer, who has been indisposed, is progressing favourably. Miss Brough,' who was the guest of Mrs. L. Brown, has returned to Waitara. Mrs. Hoby, who has been the guest of Mrs. Hollins, has returned to New Plymouth. Miss Roberts, who has been the guest of Mrs. Wright, has returned to New Plymouth. Mi'S. Whitaker is on a holiday at Pio Pio. Miss J. Kaye is the guest of Mrs. McAsey, Normanby. Miss T. Brown is the guest of Mrs. Laurence, Inglewood. Miss P. Brown is the guest of Miss W. Aubrey, Tariki. Miss Hanlon, Manawatu Gorge, is the guest of Mrs. Stevens. Birthday Party. Members of the W.C.T.U. were the guests of Mrs. Mackinder on Monday afternoon, the occasion being Mrs. Mackinder’s birthday. The union members gave her a small gift. In the evening a large number of friends gave a surprise party for Mrs. Mackinder. The evening proved most enjoyable. A dainty supper was served, the feature of which was a beautiful cake given by some of Mrs. Mackinder’s friends. Musical honours were accorded Mrs. Mackinder and the staff was authorised to do the a good job had been done.
