PRESENTATIONS AT AWAKINO

TERRILL FAMILY FAREWELLED. The large crowd of settlers who assembled in the Awakino hall on Saturday night to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs, J. R. Terrill and Miss Terrill testified to the popularity they enjoyed in the district. The evening took the form of of a social and dance, vocal items being contributed by Mrs. Carrington,, Mrs. Rigg (Uruti), Miss E. Cowper and Mr. F. G. Northern. Music for dancing was played by Mrs. McNeice (piano) and Mr. L. Bryant (violin). Extras were played by the Mokau Maori string band. Supper was provided by local ladies. Mr. J. McNeice, in presenting Mr. Terrill with a case of pipes, Mrs. Terrill with a dinner waggon and Miss Terrill with a rose bowl, said he had known Mr. Terrill since they both came to the district over 30 years ago and during that time Mr. and Mrs. Terrill had helped in every way for the advancement of the district. ’ Mr. L. R. Jones spoke of the assistance Mr. Terrill had rendered the Collie Club since the inauguration of the club 27 years ago. Mr- S. Whitehead, president of the bowling club, presented Mr. Terrill with the club’s championship medal, which he won this year, and spoke with regret of the impending departure of a valued member of the club. Personal Items. Mrs. Ronald Black, Troopers Road, is the guest of Mrs. W. Black, Mrs. H. May is visiting her mother at Bell Block. Mr. and Mrs. Bowesfield left on Thursday for Raetehi. Mrs. W. F. Kelly has returned from New Plymouth. Miss Noonan, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. C. R. Westfield. Mr. C. G. Calvert returned yesterday to Tolaga Bay. Mr. H. J. Gray, postmaster, has returned from Greytown. Mrs. A. Muller has returned to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Terrill and Miss Terrill left on Thursday for New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Scoble arrived at Awakino on Tliursday.
