SEAMAN FALLS SIXTY FEET
RETURN TO WELLINGTON BY TUG. PORT FREMANTLE FOR SYDNEY. By Telegraph—Press. Association. Wellington, Last Night. While the Port Fremantle was outward bound for Sydney an able seaman, E. Richardson, fell sixty feet from the fore topmast to No. 1 hold, dislocating his right elbow, puncturing his right arm and suffering internal injuries and shock. The vessel left Wellington with the starboard engine out of actiton. The harbour board tug Toia accompanied her as escort till clear of Cook Strait. The accident occurred when the ship was opposite the Brothers light. The injured man was transferred to the Toia, which immediately returned to port. A free ambulance was waiting on the wharf.
In the course of transferring Mr. Richardson to the Toia another seaman had three fingers crushed between the tug and the boat He returned to the Port Fremantle, however, to continue the voyage. ■
