PRESENTATIONS TO OFFICERS. POST OFFICE AND LANDS OFFICE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. After 40 years of service Mr. W. J. Gow, second assistant secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, retired to-day and was farewelled by a large number of officers of all branches of the department. In the absence of the Minister (the Hon. A. Hamilton) Mr. W. McNamara presented Mr. Gow with a radio set and travelling bag and a handbag for Mrs. Gow. Mr. Gow* intends to Live at Auckland. Mr. S. Gambrill, senior clerk at the head office of the Department of Lands and Survey, has been promoted to chief clerk in place of Mr. J. R. MacCormick, who has retired after 40 years of service. Mr. R. W. Cooper has been appointed to succeed Mr. Gambrill as senior clerk. Mr. MacCormick was farewelled by the staff to-day. He did a large amount of important work in connection with the consolidation of land laws in 1924-25.
