ADVANCE IN WOOL PRICES

SALE'OF ODDMENTS AT AUCKLAND. DEMAND . GENERALLY FIRM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. About 1200 bales of wool, principally crutchings, pieces and oddments, were offered at a special supplementary wool sale to-day. There was a full bench of local buyers together with several representatives of overseas firms and the demand was generally firm. Over 80 per cent of tile offering was sold,- prices -being on a par with those ruling at several other oddments sales held in southern centres in the past few weeks. The level represents, a distinct advance over , prices at-the last principal Auckland sale in March, but values are not considered to form any definite indication of prices for the coming season. ' Good'crutchings made from 3d to 4d, compared with 2d to 21d at the March sale. One particularly good lot consisting of four bales of Corriedale crutchings made 53d. Slightly seedy erutchinfgs brought 2d to 2Jd, while inferior sorts made Id to 2d.

Lambs wool sold up to Bjd,. representing an advance of about Id bn March prices, while hogget wool, which was not very well represented, realised to 7jd. The best price of the sale was Secured by a bale of reclassed Southdown which brought 10|d.

Competition was confined principally to local buyers. Bradford, Australia and the Continent were represented but there was little keenness from this source. There were no Japanese buyers.
