ANGLICAN GUILD WORK. The St. Andrew’s Anglican ladies’ guild held its weekly juvenile dancing class on Friday. There was a good attendance. The children are progressing welL Mesdames Jenks, Allen, Gould and the Misses B. Allen, B. Wagstaff, Butcher and Douggans taught the dancing. Mr. Norman Roberts and Miss Butcher supplied the music. Old-time and modem dancing is being taught the children.
The Girl Guides and Boy Scouts gave a concert in Kallil’s theatre on Thursday. The Scouts presented a sketch entitled “The Snob Family.”. Those who took part were Hugh Smith, Gordon Fretwell, Neville Jones, R. Currie, D. Williams, Owen Oliver, F. Stevenson, P. Fowler and P. Brooks. It was most successful. The Girl Guides presented a play entitled “The Finch and Romance of a Shoe.” Those who took part were June Jenks, Leslie Williams, Lois Wagstaff, Nita Stuart, Marjorie Stevenson, Betty Perini, Betty Power, Gladys Martin and Peggy Martin. At the close a nice bouquet was presented to June Jenks. The second part of the programme comprised: “Fire sketch” (W. Wills, A. Mac Harrie, J. Wills, Hugh Smith, K. Brown, F. Stevenson and Neville Jones); chorus, recitation (Betty Power), song (June Jenks), violin solo (Vivian Fretwell), song (June Hunt), recitation (Marjorie Stevenson), and duet (Neville Jones and Hugh Smith). Mr. Stevenson thanked all who had helped to train the children for their various parts. Mrs. R. J. Allen and family visited Ohura at the week-end and wtore the -guests of Mrs. C. J. Allen. Mr. C. J. Allen is on annual leave. Mr. McGuire is relieving, him. Miss Edric MacClure is a patient in the Taumarunui hospital. Mr. Roberts spent a few days in Hamilton. Miss Barbara Wagstaff entertained at tards on Wednesday evening. Miss Betty Allen entertained some young friends at the week-end.
