MOTOR DRIVERS’ OFFENCES

MANY APPEAR IN POLICE COURT.

A large crop of offenders against the Motor Vehicles Regulations, who appeared before Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the New Plymouth Magistrates Court yesterday, was the fruit of the activities of Constable Mitchell by night and Mr. R. Area, Taranaki County Council inspector, by day. Harold Beal, Raynor T. W. Cobham and George Spencer were convicted of driving motor vehicles without a taillight at New Plymouth and were ordered to pay 12s costs. Convicted on.asimilar charge . Harold Leathern Cutnela ana Robert Neill were each ordered to pay 10s costs. ~ , Charges of driving motor-vehicles without two headlights were made against three defendants on whose cars only the left hand lamp was bunung. Minnie Ennis was fined 5s (costs 10 s), Eric Fenwick was ordered to pay IZs costs and Gladys Ethel Taylor was fined 5s (10s costs). Joseph H. Street, who drove a car without any lights was convicted and ordered to pay 12s costs on the charge of driving a car without headlights, while the charge of driving a car without a tail light was dismissed. As a result of an inspection made by Mr. Aroa at Spotswood on. June 23 several drivers were charged with driving without a license. Henry Collett and Frank Carter were convicted and ordered to pay 10s costs each and Harry Hill, Richard Donald Kirk and William E. Saneer were ordered to pay 12s costs. Jack SchiZl was fined 10s (costs 12s) and Albert Henry Weston, a jnarried man on relief work, was convicted and ordered to pay 5s on account of costs.
