CENTRAL SCHOOL DANCE
ECHO OF RECENT CARNIVAL. As a compliment to all those who assisted in the conduct of the recent Central School queen carnival a dance was given in the gymnasium on Thursday evening, when the time was passed most enjoyably by a large number of dancers. Mr. F. Coleman welcomed the guests ou behalf of the Home and School Association, and expressed appreciation of the efforts that resulted in the raising of about £2OO.
Items were given by Madame Vita Cornwall and Mr. F. Baird (songs), Mr. C. Hume Fyfe (violin solos), Miss Rothery (whistling solo) and Miss Jemison (recitations). Messrs. Cornwall, Asplin and Fredric played the accompaniments. Messrs. Fyfe and Asplin and members of the Troubadours Orchestra (who were present as guests) supplied dance music, which was supplemented by amplified records.
Among those present were 'he Mayor (Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour) and Mr. and Mrs. H. V. S. Griffiths. Mr. J. O. Turner, the master of ceremonies, was responsible for a programme comprising mostly oldtime dances. Supper was served under the supervision of Mrs. W. H. Huggett.
