THREE OF THE BEST.

CHOICE “PENROSE” HEIFERS. A bid for recognition of the quality of their stock is being made by Messrs. Clemow Bros., of the well-known Penrose Jersey Stud, Stratford, at this sale. They have accordingly sent forward three of their very choicest rising two-year-old heifers to test the market. Particulars Of their breeding will be found in lots 3, 4 and 5 of the catalogue. Turn them up and read their records. < Penrose Nancy Lee, by Penrose Corporal (sold for the highest price at the 1931 Stratford Club’s sale) out of Penrose Bobby (O.H.T. 4171 b fat in 281 days; is the first. She is beautifully bred, and has sound butter-fat backing. The second is Penrose Norah, whose sire Ku Ku Bonny Owler won five firsts, one second, two championships and three reserves at Taranaki shows. The dam, Penrose Flora, was' also bred in the purple. Last, and perhaps the best of this choice consignment is a daughter of the great Penrose Noble, champion butter-fat bull, whose record appears in the pedigree of lot 37. Penrose Trixie, with a production of 4191 b fat in 299 days, is tire dam, and therein lies some great Jersey blood. She is by a grandson of Lady of Collingwood, winner of three gold medals and 7301 b fat. All her descendants have been remarkable producers. When Penrose Trixie was tested Messrs. Clemow Bros, had no less than 62 cows under test. Each of the heifers to be sold is due to Penrose Sovereign, a son of Ku Ku Bonny Owler and Penrose Juno (O.H.T. 461.9 as a three-year-old). Penrose Sovereign secured second prize in the 18 months class at the last New Plymouth show, in face of strong competition.
