THE GLENASA OFFERING.

SELECT LINE OF HEIFERS. Another Bell Block breeder is offering a select lot of nine heifers from his stud, two to be submitted at the National' female sale on Monday, and the remaining seven at the New Plymouth Jersey Cattle Club’s annual female sale on Tuesday. Mi’. Colson has concentrated on butter-fat, having used bulls with butter-fat backing all the time. That he has had successful results is shown by the fact that under ordinary herd conditions no concentrated food of any description- has been used. His herd comprises 45 cows, including five cows carried over from the previous season, and eight heifers, which averaged 3651 b of but-ter-fat, while this season the test averaged 5.2. One cow in the B class did 5611 b fat. The fact that the bulls used are from dams such as Elf’s Beauty, with 8001 b of fat, Sylvia of 0.K., 7601 b fat, and Lady Joy, 8001 b of fat, speaks, for itself.

The best imported blood runs through the herd, including such great bulls as Viola’s Golden Laddie (champion butterfat bull and sire of 27 C.O.R. daughters), Wotton Red Buoy. (five C.O.R. daughters, including Nettle, 8001 b fat), Una’s Nobility (seven C.O.R. daughters), Clarion (13 C.O.R. daughters), Sybil’s Volunteer (champion of the Royal Show), Grannie’s Knight and other noted sires. Owing to milking by hand Mr. Colson has never shown, but one has only to glance at the heifers to be struck with their appearance, denoting as their pedigree shows that they are bred on type as well as production, and only need to be in the hands of a keen enthusiast to make their name in the show ring. The two heifers to be submitted at the. National Show are of outstanding quality, being bred on the choicest lines for type and quality. They are certain to take, the eye, and from their breeding should turn out to be as good as they look. Those who are not fortunate in securing one of this pair will have an opportunity of securing one of the sextette to be submitted the following day, as all are bred on similar highclass lines. They have all been pastured with Jersey Bank Marshall.
