NOTED ISLAND STRAINS

MR. J. S. JONES’ ENTRY. Seven fine animals, four heifers, two cows and one bull, represent Mr. J. S. Jones’ (Bell Block) stud in next week’s Jersey series, two heifers, -the bull and two cows in the first National sale on Monday and two heifers in the annual female sale on Tuesday, an entry with the best Island blood predominating. Silverley’s Anemone, a rising three-year-old, is a daughter of Bridgeview Tulip V.H.C., which dropped her second calf before she was three years old and created what must- be a world’s record with 13861 b fat in the two first lactation periods. In the 1932 Taranaki show Silverley’s Anemone created a sensation by defeating the two unbeaten heifers which carried all before them at North Island shows and also at the Royal Show in Christchurch.

Abberley Rita is not only a V.H.C. cow but also a C.S.P. (Commended for Superior Progeny)., She is a twelve-year-old but when seen at the sale it will be apparent she has many years of usefulness in front of her. This grand matron has a C.O.R. of 6031 b fat in 305 days and is regarded as one of the best breeding cows in the Dominion. Her record is Unique in that she has always conceived to first, service and has always delivered a live calf.

Fem Queen’s Volunteer by Sybil’s Volunteer—Silverley’s Fem Queen H.C. is a bull regarded as an outstanding breeding proposition! and is a full brother to a young bulb sojd for 150 guineas when 11 months, old. ‘ ,

The other two heifers ,in the First National are Alpha Rexmore, the first progeny of that great sire Brampton Royal Rexmore to be dropped in New Zealand, and Silverley’s Amy, a jnost attractive heifer by Sybil’s Volunteer (unp.) —Silverley’s Oxford Queen. The two heifers in the female sale are sired by Brampton Royal Rexmore (imp.), the first, Viola Rexmore, being out of Silverley’s Lady Viola a granddaughter of Abberley Rita V.H.C., and the second, Topsy Rexmore, from Runnymead Topsy, a matron carrying the blood of the great imported sire Masterful. Mr. Jones’ entry provides a unique opportunity to get some of the best blood in the land and buyers will no doubt show tangible appreciation of this.
