A GREAT OPPORTUNITY.
MR. G. E. MITCHELL’S OFFERING. Mr. G. E. Mitchell’s decision to dispose of all his pedigree cows and to retain for himself only their heifers, provides a good opportunity for breeders who wish to judiciously improve their herds and for those who are just com-* mencing to build up a herd. Mr. Mitchell, who is at present farming on the Cowling Road, was for many years a resident of Upper Mangorei. For over twenty years he has been breeding pedigree Jerseys. Hence the auctioneer’s note “small but good” requires little qualification. Three of the cows, Riverdale’s Blue Rona, and Rosalie and Merriwee Water Flower, are great grand-daughters to the well known Soumise Jack (imp.). His record is a good one, including three C.O.R. daughters, he himself being a son of Island winners. The others offered are all good blood stock with creditable C.O.R. backing. Riverdale’s-Blue Rona's sons have been much sought after, several having been sent to Hawke’s Bay, Waikato and the South Island, and in every case except one have realised over 50 guineas. Mr. Mitchell’s entries are the first seven catalogued, and will no doubt be in good demand.
