BRED WORLD CHAMPION.
TWO FINE WOODLAND HEIFERS. Breed, character and utility have been the slogan of Mr. H. C. Sampson, the well-known Jersey breeder, ever since he established his famed Woodlands Stud over a quarter of a century ago, with the result that his cattle combine beauty and productive ability. In other words they are the ideal Jersey. As the result of the careful study and selection by Mr. H. C. Sampson, Woodlands Stud had the honour of breeding the world’s champion Jersey cow, Woodlands Felicie, with which' Mr. P. J. Peterson put up the great record of 12201 b of butter-fat. As showing, too, that quality runs right through the herd and is not confined to one or two, it is interesting to note that Mr. Sampson has won tire points prize at the New Plymouth show three times, thus securing it outright. It is only fitting that such a stud should be represented at the first National show to be held on Monday, and it is represented by two beautiful heifers. One, Woodlands Perfect Peace, is indeed a close relation on both sides to "the world’s champion. She is by Woodlands Felicity Vic, whose dam was Woodlands Felicity, also the dam of Woodlands Felicie and several other high-class producers. His sire is Blonde’s Victor, who is a famous son of the imported Clarion. He is also the sire of her dam Woodland’s Peace, whose dam is Woodlands Mermaid, a daughter of Mercedes Golden Laddie, so that through hex* dam also she is closely related to the world’s champion. The other offering is a yearling heifer, Woodland’s Little Gem, a beautifully typey animal. She has plenty of imported blood, ensuring high production, including Brampton Forward Prince and Viola’s Golden Laddie on the sire’s side, and Clarion and. Bright Sultan, the latter the sire of Woodland’s Felicie, on the dam’s side.
